I found this site earlier this week after Steve M had reviewed Mr Sheehy's new J. D. Ryder book at Western Fiction Review. I tried to make contact (as Steve had previously apparently) but with no results other than automated ones. I would have liked Mr Sheehy to explain further his various contentions about writing westerns and made the approach with a deal of tact. You see, Mr Sheehy is not very flattering about the genre we love. He believes he has a "Sheehy formula" for westerns that he also describes as "fiction writing for dummies". I hope this is not going to be the new shape for Black Horse Westerns. Gary Dobbs (aka Jack Martin) is currently being much more frank at his Tainted Archive blog. His readers, including Laurie Powers and Mark E, make some good comments, too.
