When four pretty brides-to-be are in need of an escort to guide them across the dusty desert where they are to wed a group of miners, everyone tells them that Jackson Blake is the only man for the job. Blake thinks so...but the Badlands figure otherwise.

The Venom of Valko by Michael D. George

For any bounty hunter, the most valuable prize around was the bounty on the Valko Kid. It was a fortune and as such it brought out the lowest of the low to try and claim it. On one moonlit night Sheriff Colby Masters led his posse to a narrow canyon ridge to wait. It had been rumoured that Valko was headed to the town of War Smoke. The large moon was at its brightest when the posse suddenly saw the rider below them. A horseman clad all in black, atop a magnificent white stallion that thundered through the canyon. It had to be him. But none of them knew that before the night was over they would all taste The Venom of Valko...

Dead-End Trail by Tyler Hatch

When does a decent, law-abiding man turn into a bounty hunter? When a forest fire wipes out his horse ranch and he's left with nothing but small change in his pockets and an empty belly. That's how it happened with Chet Rand, and when he came across the outlaw Feeney with a $1,100 reward on his head, it seemed like a gift sent from heaven. Unfortunately, others wanted a piece of the action as well - outlaws from the Cherokee strip, tough men from the local saloon and a greedy sheriff. Rand was all that stood between them and the $12,000 Feeney had stolen - a more pressing matter than the bounty itself. So it was inevitable that when guns were drawn, blood would flow and men would die...

The Killing Kind by Lance Howard

Jim Bartlett thought he could put his former life behind him and forge a new one as small Texas ranch owner but he was wrong...dead wrong. Someone from his past has followed him and is systematically and permanently trying to destroy his new life, piece by piece. With his friends and the woman he loves being threatened by a man who knows no remorse and no boundaries, Jim finds himself in a desperate struggle - not only to escape his past, but also to hold onto his life...

Badlands Bounty by James Del Marr

Hawkeye Hank lives a peaceful life in the badlands at Sweet Spring with his wife, Meralito. But he is a man with a price on his head. When bounty hunter Horse Soldier arrives at the Barren Rocks saloon he has one aim: to find Hawkeye Hank and take him back to Texas, dead or alive. Unbeknownst to Horse Soldier, three desperadoes from Texas are also on Hank's trail, and when their leader, Tod Ridelle, shoots Hawkeye Hank's brother-in-law, things begin to spiral out of control. As the desperadoes and Horse Soldier converge on Sweet Spring, Sheriff Watts fears he will not be able to prevent their crimes. Will Hawkeye Hank escape, or is he fated to be a bounty hunter's reward?

Bleached Bones in the Dust by I.J. Parnham

For twenty years, bounty hunter Montgomery Grant searched for Lomax Rhinehart, desperate to make him pay for an atrocity he committed during the dying days of the war. So when Grant's friend, Wallace Sheckley, told him that he had found Lomax, Grant followed him to Sunrise, but Arnold Hays and his gunslingers were holding the town in the grip of fear. Nobody would help him and, worse, Wallace had gone missing and Lomax was nowhere to be found. With Arnold Hays the key to Grant finding out what has happened to both his friend and his enemy, he must turn to his gun to get the answers he needs...

Gunslinger Breed by Corba Sunman

When gunslinger Clint Halloran rides into Plainsville to help out his old pal Jeff Deacon, he expects to put a speedy end to Deacon's troubles...but things don't quite work out that way. Halloran finds Deacon on the point of being lynched so he fires a shot which plunges him headfirst into his friend's feud. Now Halloran has a fight on his hands and his woes are complicated further by the crooked deputy sheriff Dan Ramsey - a man with his own axe to grind. Halloran refuses to give up the fight and vows to keep his gun by his side. Now crisis follows crisis...until the final shot is fired.

Royce signs on with land baron Yale Jamerson, hoping for a job that will give his conscience a rest, but Jamerson's plans to dam the river and charge tolls on the road lead the townspeople revolt. Rio Bonito by Caleb Rand

Joe Kettle possessed the grit and fighting blood of his father, and his father before him. And he needed it, for Wilshaw Broome - once a loyal foreman of the Standing K ranch - was using hired gunmen in his effort to seize the Kettle domain. Supported by an ageing Hector Chaf and Ben McGovren, Joe sets out to win back his birthright. But each of the three men had his own special reason for going up against overwhelming opposition, and it wasn't all to do with property and livestock. To overcome Broome's force, they would play a waiting game, take advantage of the hidden trails and scrub thickets along the Rio Bonito. Then, when the time was right, they would not hesitate to meet force with force and guns with guns.

Iron Eyes is Dead by Rory Black

The town of Desert Springs lay on the edge of a vast ocean of sand - an oasis which had started to draw the dregs of Texas down into its profitable boundaries. Yet none of the ruthless characters who had been gathering there was anything when judged against the infamous bounty hunter, Iron Eyes, who had trailed a dangerous outlaw into the midst of the remote settlement. But Iron Eyes was wounded. He had battled his way through a band of Apaches in his quest to reach this place. With an arrow through his chest and a bullet hole in his leg, he had lost more blood than most men could afford to lose. As the town's doctor fought to save his life a call went out: 'Iron Eyes is Dead!'. But is this truly the end for the legend known as Iron Eyes?

Take the Oregon Trail by Eugene Clifton

Thousands of men took the trail to the west looking for a new beginning. Quite a few of them didn't make it - drowning, starving or just taking sick and not making it through. When Adam Trant set out on the Oregon Trail it wasn't a new start he was looking for but an old enemy. The hunt took him to a savage wilderness few white men ever saw, and matched him against ruthless marauders who would shoot a man dead on a whim. Adam was ready to die - as long as he succeeded in what he'd set out to do, death didn't matter. However, he was faced with the love of a woman, the one unpredictable force he wasn't prepared for.

The Fighting Man by Alan Irwin

Young Rob Sinclair, the son of a homesteader from the Wyoming Territory, has never handled a shotgun in his life, but when his parents are killed by the Nolan gang, he is determined to bring the culprits to justice. He persuades a retired bounty hunter to pass on some of his own fighting skills and then he sets out on his search for the killers. His journey takes him all the way to the Texas Panhandle but what awaits him there? And can he complete such a perilous mission alone?

Hombre's Vengeance by Toots J. Johnson

At first, avenging his father's death isn't at the forefront in his mind as he struggles with the harsh reality of surviving alone...but then he meets two of Bryant's other victims and he realises that he must join the fight for justice. Although Zac knows that lead will fly and he will probably die trying to stop Bryant, he is determined. Zac is back, no longer a wronged boy, but a man. Now is the time for the hombre's vengeance!

Savidge by Sean Kennedy

Joe Savidge has revenge in his heart. But having been beaten to within an inch of his life following some dirty dealings in a lawless small town, he ends up in Pioche, Nevada, with little more than the shirt on his back- to say nothing of the tools required to make revenge a reality. Then he meets a woman who is down on her luck - just like him, but with a lucrative connection to a mysterious Frenchman. For Savidge, playing along means the opportunity to purchase guns and horses: necessities for a man hell-bent on retribution. After that, all Savidge has to do is lie in wait for destiny to arrive...

Chris Scott Wilson's BHWs to be reprinted as e-books

Yorkshire Author Signs World-wide Six E-Book Deal with an American Publisher for Westerns (Coals to Newcastle?)

Today 24th November 2010 Boson Books of Raleigh, North Carolina USA are proud to announce they have signed Saltburn by the Sea author Chris Scott Wilson to an exclusive contract for six of his books to be distributed world-wide as E-books.

Probably best known in the UK for his local history books, Boson Publishers believe Chris’ westerns hold an authenticity which will appeal to readers world-wide. The first title is Double Mountain Crossing, which will be followed by further no-nonsense tales of the Old West. These titles are The Fight at Hueco Tanks, The Quantro Story, The Copper City and Desperadoes. The sixth E-book will be a maritime yarn, Scarborough Fair, originally published in the USA as a paperback and an audio book. It is a fictionalized account, based on fact, of the lead-up to, and the actual sea battle when John Paul Jones became America ’s first naval hero at Flamborough Head near Scarborough , during the War of Independence.

The author says: “I see westerns the same as any other historical fiction. They’re about people and their reactions to situations, often perilous.”

Chris adds, “If our parents’ generation grew up on Hollywood westerns, then my generation grew up on TV westerns. Wagon Train, Rawhide, Bronco Lane , Have Gun Will Travel and many others. We loved them. There’s something raw and exciting about a man, alone but for his Winchester and his horse, standing up to whatever that untamed country can throw at him.”

Double Mountain Crossing by Chris Scott Wilson is available now from Amazon and other leading on-line retailers.

Details available at the author's website here.
